Voyageurs Add Goalkeeper to Roster

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. May 2, 2019 - Ahead of its season opening match, Green Bay Voyageurs FC has announced the addition of University of Wisconsin goalkeeper Dean Cowdroy to the roster on May 2.

In his junior campaign with the Badgers, Cowdroy made 62 saves in 18 appearances. The 5-8 Australian posted a 10-5-2 overall record while logging 1743 minutes in goal. 

Prior to joining Wisconsin, Cowdroy spent two seasons at Division II Lander University in Greenwood, S.C. where he was All-Peach Belt selection as a sophomore. Cowdroy also earned Peach Belt Freshman of the year in 2016. In his time with the Bearcats, Cowdroy accumulated a  25-5-3 record with 14 shutouts. 

“Its going to be a great experience for me personally to play for this club, and along with this, I hope to bring success to this club!” Said Cowdroy about joining the Voyageurs inaugural roster.

“Dean is a great shot blocker and a keeper who is good with his feet.” Said Head Coach Brian Kamler. “We will look to his experience to organize our back line.”

The Voyageurs open their inaugural season with a trip to Des Moines on May 11.The Voyageurs’ first home game, and first ever event at Capital Credit Union Park, is slated for Friday, May 31st at 7:00 against WSA Winnipeg. Season, group and single game tickets are on sale now.
