ASHWAUBENON, Wis. May 9, 2019 - Green Bay Voyageurs FC has announced the signing of an accomplished midfielder from Northern Illinois University to add to their 2019 roster. Irvin Dominguez, a 5-foot-9 midfielder, will join the Voyageurs this summer following a solid junior season with the Huskies.
Dominguez, a native of El Paso, Texas, will look add a commanding presence to the Voyageurs lineup. With the Huskies, Dominguez appeared and started in 16 games, scoring 2 goals, adding 3 assists, and providing steady play in the midfield for the squad.
Prior to attending NIU, Dominguez spent two seasons at Richland College in Dallas, Texas, helping the Thunderducks capture the NJCAA Division III national championship in 2016 and finish runner-up in 2017. During his time in the Lone Star State, he scored 7 goals and had 30 assists in 34 matches. Dominguez played club soccer with FC Dallas in the US Soccer Development Academy.
Head Coach Brian Kamler spoke highly of Dominquez and his versatility. “Irvin is a guy who is very comfortable with the ball at his feet and can play multiple roles in the midfield for us.”
Dominguez will be joining a Voyageurs lineup featuring fellow NIU Huskies Nick Markanich, Anthony Markanich and Alex Welch.
The Voyageurs open their inaugural season with a trip to Des Moines on May 11.The Voyageurs’ first home game, and first ever event at Capital Credit Union Park, is slated for Friday, May 31st at 7:00 against WSA Winnipeg.
