Green Bay Voyageurs FC will open Capital Credit Union Park on Friday night against WSA Winnipeg. The Voyageurs will look to earn the first points in club history after falling 2-0 to Des Moines Menace on May 11.
Heading in to Friday’s match, the Voyageurs roster stands at 37 players representing 15 Colleges and Universities, as well as 10 countries. The Voyageurs also feature top local talent, with 16 players carrying ties to the Badger State.
Voyageurs Head Coach Brian Kamler is excited about the opportunity and believes his roster is poised for success in 2019. “I think everyone is really excited to take to the pitch this weekend with games on Friday and Sunday.” Noted Kamler “We have had some good training and I think the guys are ready to play against another opponent besides ourselves. We are tremendously excited we get to open Capital Credit Union Park.”
Green Bay Voyageurs host WSA Winnipeg, who enters play on Friday with an 0-3-0 record, dropping its first three matches to Heartland Division foes Des Moines Menace, Kaw Valley FC and St. Louis Lions.
Friday will also mark a new era of sports in the stadium district, as the Voyageurs will christen Capital Credit Union Park. Both Green Bay Voyageurs FC and the Green Bay Booyah will call the 4,000 seat stadium home. Capital Credit Union Park features a turf playing surface that can be programmed for over 150 days per year.
